BE2100 Sensor

The BE2100 is an industry-leading, non-invasive biomass monitoring system designed for use in both research laboratory and industrial environments. It provides continuous, real time, and online biomass measurements of your fermentation culture. 

The sensor is easily secured to the outside of a variety of different fermentor types, from small glass vessels to large stainless steel vessels with glass viewing ports.  It can be utilized with either the BE2100 Base Unit, BE2400 Multiplexer or BE/USB converter (products listed below). 

It  can be controlled through BugLab's data logging software via RS-232 or USB on the BE2100 base unit, or direct control through the BE/USB converter, or utilize the analog output on the BE2100 base unit or BE2400 multiplexer enabling straightforward integration into a fermentor control system.

 The BE2100 provides digital display of the BE2100 sensor readings and can be used independently without the data logging software.  The BE2100 base unit comes equipped with serial RS-232, USB and 4-20 mA analog outputs. A second analog output provides the ability to monitor growth rate in real time.

*Run a cascade control utilizing your fermentor controller and software by integrating with the BE2100 analog output. 


BE2400 Noninvasive Biomass Multiplexer (up to 4 sensors)

The BE2400 is among the latest additions to BugLab's non-invasive biomass monitoring systems, designed for use in both research laboratory and industrial environments. It can accommodate up to four BE2100 sensor heads, identical to those used with the BE2100 base unit (BE2100 sensors sold separately).   The included data logging software will provide the ability to view 6 sensors at one time. Alternatively, one can run a cascade control utilizing your fermentor controller and software by integrating with the BE2400 analog output. 

BE/USB Converter for use with the BE2100 Biomass sensor

The BE/USB Converter is  designed for use in both research laboratory and industrial environments. It provides power and connectivity to your computer via USB for one BE2100 sensor head. The sensor heads are identical to those used with the BE2100  base unit(sensors sold separately). The functionality is virtually identical to that of the BE2100 base unit, but is a lower-cost solution for those users who do not need the RS-232 and analog outputs, nor the LCD display and keypad operation of the BE2100.  The BE/ USB Sensor Converters provide a simple, low-cost computer connectivity via USB

NEW proBE 3000 Fiber Optic Total Biomass Sensor  

The proBE 3000 micro sensor employs a near infrared laser  to determine on-line, real time biomass in fermentors from 0.01 to 200 g/L dry cell weight, without dilution, without sampling, with one single sensor. 

The required measurement volume is small enough so that measurements can be made in small vessels and large vessels while at the same time maintaining a very wide linear range of sensitivity to biomass (over 4 orders of magnitude). 

  • Capable of working with the smallest of vessels including 125 mL and smaller
  • Requires only 3 cm's of culture media to measure
  • Effective bubble discrimination in high aeration and agitation environments
